Yes! Finally! Jonas found him someone. I love Jonas, I have since On a Razors Edge. No, I didn't much care for him in Into the Darkness, but that was because of the circumstances. This dude won me over, I'm pretty sure he won everyone who has kept up with this series over. Everyone keeps saying they're sorry the series is over. I don't think it is. Breene left a big opening for the possibility of Charles getting a story at the end of Jonas. I could be wrong, of course, but I really really hope I'm not. I loved the story line here. I loved that Sasha wasn't willing to back down, and give up on finding Jonas. I liked Emmy as well. She's a bit of a mystery, shy and a little bit timid, until she gets a whip in her hand, then watch out. Honestly, I know this story was all about Jonas, but I would have loved to see more from Sasha and Stefan. Stefan especially. I'm satisfied, this was a great read. I can't wait to see what Breene comes up with next.

SYNOPSIS

BLOOD WILL BE SHED...

The ghosts of Donovan "Blade" Brookes' life are closing in on him.

Hardened by an abusive childhood and haunted by the murder of his fiancé, Blade struggles against the dark forces threatening to consume him.  When he helps Layla Reed in her hour of need, he has no idea she will be the light to his darkness.  As they spend more time together, he is powerless to fight his desire for her.  Powerless to fight his need for her.  However, as his feelings deepen, he pushes her away, reluctant to drag her into his world.  With enemies coming at him from all directions, Storm MC needing his help to fight off a rival, and his father still causing him grief, Blade needs the love of a good woman now more than ever.  Can Layla push Blade to the edge and get him to admit to both of them what he wants?  Or will the darkness pull him under once and for all?

Oh man, I have been waiting for Blade's (AKA Donovan) story. I just knew he was going to be difficult. He was surprisingly less difficult than I expected. He's gone through some really bad stuff, so I figured poor Layla was going to have to work super hard to get him to open up...That part was as expected. Ha

I've loved Blade since the beginning of the Storm MC series. I know he was a surprise to Scott and Madison, but I was excited about his introduction into the story. I love his and Madison's relationship. You don't expect someone as scary as Blade to be as loving as he is toward his little sister. I was also pleasantly surprised by the way Scott and Blade interacted. Oh! And I loved Layla, that girl is fierce. She would have to be to be able to keep up with Blade.

Okay, there were quite a few "Ah" moments in this installment. I'm not going to discuss it, but I was relieved. There is so much going on in Slay that my head was kind of spinning. Let's just say there are a lot of questions we've had that are answered, and some stuff happens that I'm still kind of reeling from as I'm sitting here thinking about it.

All in all, I loved it! It was intense, and it was surprising, but I'm glad some answers I've had were answered. Let's just say that I now CANNOT wait for Griff's book.

Review: Love and Chaos by K.f. Breene

Love and Chaos: A Growing Pains Novel - K.F. Breene

 Title: Love and Chaos

Author: K.F. Breene

Genre: Adult Contemporary Romance

A stand alone book based on the bestselling Growing Pains Series. You do not need to have read the series to embark on this read.
Cassie thought she had it all—a great brother, a new soon to be sister-in-law, and a bunch of great friends. With her chosen family growing, and her life in L.A. going great, she never thought she’d ask for anything more. But when she sees the way her brother and his soon-to-be wife look at each other, Cassie realizes something’s missing. A love she didn’t think she needed suddenly becomes the one thing she can’t live without.
Unfortunately, her problems will have to wait. When Cassie is asked by her good friend, Peter, to be his fake-girlfriend for a family reunion, she can’t say no. She is now responsible for helping him keep a secret that could tear his family away from him. And if she didn’t think it could get any worse, she meets Peter’s brother. Tall and brooding with a sleeve of tattoos and a Harley, he’s a bad boy with an irresistible smile.
Jace has sworn away women. After he caught his fiancé in bed with his best friend, he can’t imagine ever trusting again. He sells his house and heads to his parent’s place in wine country, needing a retreat away from his life to get his head on straight. There he meets Cassie. Chaotic but so full of life, she has his head spinning. But his resolve to stay away from the opposite sex, not to mention his brother’s girlfriend, has him keeping his distance.
With loyalty standing in her way, Cassie must do everything she can to protect Peter by keeping his secret. But staying away from Jace turns out to be the hardest challenge of her life.

Let me tell you how excited I was to hear that Cassie was getting her own story. As you may be aware, I am a huge K.F. Breene fan girl. The first book I ever read by her was Lost and Found, which is the beginning of Sean and Krista’s story. Sean is Cassie’s brother and we don’t really get to hear much about Cassie until Overcoming Fear, which is the second book in the Growing Pains series. Anyway, my point, I adored Cassie, so of course I couldn’t wait to get my mitts on this little gem.

We get to see all the usual characters in Love and Chaos, but we also get to meet new ones. Peter, who happens to be Marcus’s boyfriend, needs a favor from the sweetest girl he knows. Peter is how Cassie meets Jace, and let me tell you, WHAT A FRIGGIN MAN! Cassie is….crazy, for lack of a better word. The girl is fun and full of life. She’s also strong, with a touch of vulnerability. She can kick ass at any sport one minute, then clean up like she just came off of a runway the next. Cassie needs a strong man that she can’t steamroll, who also won’t try to change her or steamroll her in return. Jace is protective and loyal, and he adores his big, loud, crazy family. He’s been burned pretty badly, but Cassie came along and knocked him right off of his feet.

I was rooting for these two pretty hardcore. I love Cassie, and she really does deserve someone that will treat her like she’s the most important thing in their world. I loved it when Jace met K-Jaz. Along with Ben, it was hilarious. I think I’d probably get whiplash trying to keep up, or I’d just go with it, and never know exactly what was going on, but having the time of my life following blindly in that group. Oh, to have friends that crazy would be fantastic.

I’m definitely going to recommend this book to anyone who will listen. I love the way K.F. tells a story. I really do feel she's underrated (don't tell her I said that, though, she's weird about compliments), and I can’t tell you how much that irritates a book loving fool like myself. Love and Chaos was the perfect title for this one, because that is exactly what the story is. LOVED IT!! #TEAMJACEANDCASSIE Ha!

Review Something Forever by M. Clarke/ Mary Ting

Title: Something Forever

Author: M. Clarke/Mary Ting

Series: Something Great #3

Genre: Adult Contemporary Romance

Publication: August 25, 2014

A heated moment.

Desperate decision.

Life altering choices.

Max and Jenna are forced to test their relationship. Will they be able to embrace the challenges life throws their way?

Secrets can ruin the foundation of a relationship. Will Matthew choose to withhold vital information from Becky that could consume her with doubt about their future?

When it comes to love, Something Great can turn into Something Wonderful, but can it be Something Forever?

I'm just going to say that I was excited to get the final installment in the Something Great series. I enjoyed Something Forever. I love multiple POV's, I've said that before, but it's true. I like knowing all sides of the situation from each character's perspective.

I would like to say, and I'm not sure why, exactly, but I like Matt and Becky as a couple more than I do Jenna and Max. I'm not really sure why, I think it may be because Matt and Becky seem to mesh better with my own personality. Don't get me wrong, I still love Max and Jenna, and I'm really glad that Max helps Jenna bring out her wilder side. I definitely loved seeing Jenna grow as a character through out the series. Max is as great as ever, aside from one blunder....and a pretty big one, I might add. I loved seeing Matt fight for Becky, also. Matt will probably always be one of my favorite character's, I just love that guy. Again, I had a bit of a problem with Becky, she seems to be a runner, and that just grinds my gears sometimes.

I think this is a great ending to a really good series. If you liked the first two in the series, you definitely don't want to miss out on the final chapter in Max, Jenna, Matt, and Beckys lives. I'm a bit sad to see the series come to an end, but these things happen. Great read, though.

Lost and Found:

On the tail-end of her ex-boyfriend crashing through a restraining order and putting her in the hospital, Krista realizes that the only way to effectively escape her past is to put distance between it. She gets her life back on track
in San Francisco with a job that has limitless potential.

Unfortunately, to achieve her dreams, she must brave the star of the company; a charming and handsome salesman that isn’t used to the word no. Krista tries to run from him at every turn, but his pull continually sucks her back in; her hesitancy to trust the only thing saving her from being another notch on a bedpost.

Sean never has to try with women. He's the type of guy to jump in with both feet, get bored, and sprint right back out. But when a geeky new hire stumbles through the company, befuddling him with a keen intellect he doesn’t expect, he starts to lose his way. Before he knows it, all his efforts are concentrated around trying to capture the interest of the only woman to run when he tries to deliver a line. As she opens up, so does he, landing him in a terrain as disconcerting as it is invigorating.

Overcoming Fear:

With the shadows of Krista’s past constantly lingering over her, Krista tries to keep herself at a distance from the handsome and effervescent salesman, Sean. The problem is, the more entwined they become working as a team to land the huge client, the closer they inevitably get. Soon Krista can’t help but face the feelings that have grown between them.

Sean doesn’t have a great track record with women. He’s always known how to get them, but keeping them has always been another story. He often jumps in with both feet, gets tangled, and goes running.

It is when each of them finally face their fears, allowing the other in, that the real danger shows itself. Some pasts are harder to ignore than others.

Butterflies in Honey:

Krista has settled into her new job in L.A. gloriously, moving up the ladder and earning a great reputation for herself. But since she and Sean parted ways, she has felt like half a person; a shell of the girl she was when she left San Francisco. It isn’t until her job takes her back to San Francisco that she sees him again, the one that got away. It’s like looking into her soul as she meets those startling green eyes again. She realizes, without a doubt, that she still loves him as much as she ever did.

Sean has spent the last couple years working like a demon, achieving and reaching for the stars, but with nothing to look forward to. He let his salvation walk away, and let his own fears and problems keep him from going after her. When he meets her again he is plagued with his love for her, thinking that she has moved on. When he finds out she still loves him, he decides to make matters right, and finally go after her.

It isn’t until the two are working together again that they realize true love is a winding road that comes at a cost. Sean and Krista will not only struggle with trust and obstacles to be together, they must face the landscape of the company they now work for, an establishment that promotes men over women, and that threatens to pigeonhole Krista from the get-go. It will take the two learning to fight together again to overcome and triumph.

The fourth book in K.F. Breene's Darkness series, Demon's, will be released on July 21st.  Into the Darkness is the first in the series, and is FREE!

Braving the Elements is next!

On a Razor's Edge is the third

This is a highly entertaining series, and I would definitely recommend it. I would actually recommend any of K.F. Breene's work.

Review:Rome by Jay Crownover

Genre: New Adult

Series: Marked Men #3

Publication: January 7, 2014 by William

Morrow Paperbacks

Kindle edition 387 pages

Rome (Marked Men, #3)

Sometimes the wrong choice can be just right . . .

Fun and fearless, Cora Lewis knows how to keep her tattooed "bad boy" friends at the Marked in line. But beneath all that flash and sass is a broken heart. Cora won't let herself get burned again. She's waiting to fall in love with the perfect man—a baggage-free, drama-free guy ready for commitment. Then she meets Rome Archer.

Rome Archer is as far from perfect as a man can be. He's stubborn, rigid, and bossy. And he's returned from his final tour of duty more than a little broken. Rome's used to filling many roles: big brother, doting son, supersoldier—but none of those fit anymore. Now he's just a man trying to figure out what to do with the rest of his life while keeping the dark demons of war and loss at bay. He would have been glad to suffer through it alone, until Cora comes sweeping into his life and becomes a blinding flash of color in a sea of gray.Perfect may not be in the cards, but perfectly imperfect could just last forever . .

Okay, I would like to start out by saying that this is the first book in the Marked Men series that I have read so far. Probably not best to start at book 3, but it's done now. So, I just have to catch up with the rest of the guys at some point in time.

Rome is retired military, and he is just trying to find a way to fit back into civilian life, and his old life, and he has struggles, of course. Cora is the manager at Marked, and she is also a piercer. Her and Rome have some words at a friendly get together at his brother's house, and like the "take no shit" person she is, Rome ends up with beer dumped over his head.

I liked Rome, the book, and the character. He is having a rough time, and he has the weight of the world on his shoulders. He's turned to the bottle to help him deal with his issues. When Cora gets a phone call at the tattoo shop to pick up a extremely drunk Rome, she has no idea what is coming her way. Rome is a super sweet and caring guy, once he gets past some of his issues. I loved him, I thought he was great.

I'm kind of on the fence about Cora. I just felt like Rome was giving her 100% of himself, mental and physical battle wounds and all, and she was just giving him pieces of herself. It wasn't really fair to him. But Rome, being the stand-up guy that he is, is trying his hardest to patiently wait for her. Then other times, she's trying her damnedest to be what Rome needs. She was kind of wonky, really.

I loved the guys in this book. They're all family, and they stick by each other, even when things start getting rough. I loved that about them. Brite and Rowdy were probably my favorite secondary character's. Brite was someone Rome never knew he needed, and helped him out tremendously.

All in all, I liked the book. It was a nice, fluffy, read. I will definitely be catching up with the rest of the boys, at some point in time.

Unbreakable

Unbreakable - Rebecca Shea OMG!Talk about emotional. I just finished, and I wanted to say a few words. This story is intense. Jess, I had mixed feelings about her, but I realize that's kind of unfair. I absolutely adored Gabe, such a good guy. All in all, this is a book worth reading.

My Fate for Yours (My Heart for Yours, #0.5)

My Fate for Yours (My Heart for Yours, #0.5) - Steph Campbell, Jolene Perry This book absolutely devastated me. I'm not sure if I love it or hate it. I won't go into any details, but be prepared with your kleenex ready. It is an emotional roller coaster. I had to give it a four star rating. I may be all over the place with my emotions about the story, but when I put that aside, it is still a good story, just not the type I usually like to read.

Scarred Hearts

Scarred Hearts - Elizabeth Kelly This book needed a good editing, but that didn't take away from it being a really good story. I will be waiting semi-impatiently for the next installment.
